Starting A Fish Tank
When starting a freshwater tropical fish tank you should buy the biggest fish tank you can afford and accomodate, you should also buy some sort of filtration, and a pump, you will need ornaments and plants, live plants are better but you can choose plastic if you want, you will need something on the bottom of your aquarium eg sand, gravel etc.

It is advisable to well plant your aquarium as this will give you fish somewhere to hide if neccasery.

Here are some steps on setting your tank up.

1. Buy biggest size tank you can afford and accomadate.
2. Wash gravel and sand thoroughly and place in bottom of aquarium.
3. Add ornaments and plants.
4. Add filter, heater and pump if neccasery but dont turn on at this stage.
5. Add water and salt if neccasery, it is best to avoid chemicals in my experience.
6. Turn on electrical equipment.
7. Leave for 1-2 weeks and get your water checked for pH and nitrates etc.
8. If all is well buy some hardy fish like goldfish etc.
9. Congratulations on setting up your fishtank and it should give you years of entertainment.
